Bad mom or lucky mom?

At 10:30 pm our movie was over. My 13 year old knew that meant “no more texting.” She had been texting her BFF since 5:20 and wanted just a little while longer.

They are co-authoring a fiction book and all their texting is copied and pasted into a word document to be added to their book…a worthwhile reason to text for hours on end. They are both absolutely fabulous writers!!

She offered to play with my hair. I LOVE people playing with my hair! It’s 1:40 am and against everything in me, I told her she had to get off. It’s 11:40pm where her friend lives.

I don’t want my daughter to be “that friend” texting at ungodly hours. That’s one of the reasons my kids won’t get phones till they graduate. They aren’t mature enough to put limits on themselves.

Oh, but it felt so good!!! I could live my whole life with someone’s fingers in my hair! Thank you Gracious and Happy Mother’s Day to me!!

Thrift store and spring break

Has anyone noticed that I am putting current events in full color? This was from today.

We are getting ready to take a fun family vacation, where my husband’s parents will be meeting us in Florida for 10 days. My husband and his dad will be swimming in a masters swim meet and we also have tickets to Universal Studios.

It’s our first family trip to Florida and we’re all very excited!

As I’m handling all the packing and last minute preparations, I just realized that my 10-year-old had zero sleeveless shirts and only one pair of shorts that fit…..we leave tomorrow and my eldest had water polo practice after dinner tonight at a local college. (That’s where I’m writing to you)

That left me 1 hour and 15 minutes between school pickups to get this girl an entire wardrobe! Luckily I have ADHD, the ability to hyperfocus and a “bomb.com” thrift store around the corner with half the store each day marked half price based on tag color. Today was green and blue 1/2 price.

Praising the Lord that all our favorites that fit the very best but one was 1/2 off. She got a new two-piece swimsuit, a pair of swim shorts and a swim skirt, two pairs of jeans shorts, one pair of pink shorts, three pairs of black athletic shorts with accent colors, four sports bras and six tank tops… And I got a new tankini swimsuit and a bra for a total of only $54.

It’s all in the washer as I sit here at practice typing up a note for our gracious house sitter. It’s all gonna work out just fine!

Bea said “someday when I have kids, if they ask me to take them to the mall to get clothes, I’ll say “no, but I’ll take you to the thrift store!” THAT’S MY GIRL!! Parenting SCORE….both girls agree!

Bea danced her wig off…

I’ve gotten several days behind posting Mute Mama cause I’ve been one busy mama! This was Bea’s weekend to shine! Bea is an Irish dancer and St. Patty’s day weekend is a marathon.

Bea and a couple of her dancing buddies hopped in and out of cars, shoes, dresses and wigs for three days straight. Bea even danced her wig right off at one Kroger performance! As it slid back and landed on her pony tail, she didn’t miss a step!

I’ll try to get a few more posts lined up later today.
